Meet Our Team

Hans Grotewold

Hi, my name is Hans Grotewold I am 28 years old and I grew up in the small community of Running Springs in the San Bernardino mountains. I started my guiding career in the Eastern Sierra, where I’ve spent over 7 years as a professional fishing guide and an additional 5 years at Pyramid Lake Nevada cultivating my craft and learning from the best.

I decided 5 years ago to go back to school and get my Captain’s License so I could begin the new adventure of guiding Pyramid Lake by boat. This will be my 5th season as a Captain on these waters and have been fly fishing at Pyramid Lake for the past 12 years.

I have learned throughout the years all of the best ways to navigate through the water to ensure every day on the lake is something to remember! “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” I truly believe that is the case and is the core foundation I have placed into Lacey’s Guide Service as a whole.

Brett Kennedy

Hello, my name is Brett Kennedy, I am 28 years old and fly fishing has been my passion since I was 12. I grew up in a small community named Lake Arrowhead in the San Bernardino mountains. This is my 2nd season as a full time Pyramid Lake Fly Fishing Guide with Lacey’s Guide Service and have been fly fishing at Pyramid Lake for the past 10 years.

I participated in a lot of sports like most kids but when I started fly fishing all the other sports faded away. All I wanted to do was fish and further my knowledge as much as I could. I spend much of my time taking my family and friends fishing in different and beautiful places. I get so much joy putting people on fish and seeing the excitement of others having a great time.

Growing up I had a couple ideas of what I wanted to do for a career but nothing that held my heart like fly fishing. This is when I decided it was time to team up with my buddy and become a Captain and fly fishing guide.

Denton O'Doyle Dominiack

Denton O’Doyle Dominiack is a USCG-certified captain with Lacey’s Guide Service and is currently in his second season guiding fly anglers on Pyramid Lake, Nevada. Known for his calm presence on the water and strong boating skills, Denton brings a professional maritime background and a deep appreciation for the outdoors to every trip.

Originally from Rapid City, South Dakota, Denton later moved to San Diego, California, where he gained extensive experience working on the water. Prior to guiding at Pyramid Lake, he worked as a skipper with TowBoatUS San Diego, assisting boaters with towing, navigation support, and marine safety services. This experience helped develop his strong boat-handling skills and situational awareness on the water.

At Pyramid Lake, Denton helps anglers pursue the lake’s legendary Lahontan Cutthroat Trout using techniques such as indicator fishing, stripping streamers, and the effective dangle method from the boat. His boating expertise and dedication to anglers make him a valuable member of the Lacey’s Guide Service team.

Lacey Grotewold

Lacey is a female Rottweiler and is the foundation of our guide service. She is the inspiration for all of our fishing. Although she is Rottweiler, she thinks and acts like a Labrador Retriever. She is very “fishy” and is part of everything we do. And if you are lucky enough to see her firsthand, you will see how she brings another aspect to the day on the water. This is Lacey’s world and we’re just livin’ in it!
